At Kambo we are obsessed with data! Believe it or not but we love nothing more than to geek out over energy models and project validation reports. So when we logged into our energy dashboard this week and saw the report pictured above, our energy levels went through the roof (pun intended!) and we got ourselves into an excited frenzy.
Why this report makes us giddy
The image above is a screenshot taken from our cloud-based energy management software which tracks the energy consumption at a facility we are working with. The heat map report above illustrates site-wide energy consumption levels by the hour red indicates high consumption, green and orange indicate moderate consumption and white indicates low consumption. On June 16th we started a facility-wide lighting retrofit. The clear change in colour between June 15th and 16th can be attributed to the installation of energy efficient LED lighting. The image above captures why we do what we do – we help our clients to lower their costs and become more energy efficient, then we prove it.
An energy ecosystem
Energy systems in a facility are integrated like an ecosystem. The main processing area of this facility is chilled in order to keep the produce fresh. For the lighting retrofit we replaced the processing area’s metal halide high-bay lights with high efficiency LED lights. Inefficient metal halide lights generate heat, so when we updated these with LED lights they had the additional benefit of reducing the load on the facility’s cooling system.
